Editorial Team

We build Protein Tracker and write the guides on this site. We are software developers and fitness enthusiasts, not dietitians, so everything we publish is sourced from peer-reviewed nutrition research and position stands rather than personal authority. Where the evidence is uncertain, we say so, and where a question needs a clinician, we say that too.

How We Write About Protein

We are not clinicians

We build a protein tracking app. We are not dietitians, doctors, or nutrition researchers, and we do not publish under invented expert bylines. Everything here is general fitness information. If you have kidney disease, liver disease, are pregnant, or manage any condition affecting protein metabolism, get your target from a physician or registered dietitian instead.

Numbers come from the literature

Protein recommendations on this site trace back to peer-reviewed research and position stands — meta-analyses of resistance training trials, work on protein needs in a calorie deficit, and research on anabolic resistance in older adults. When we give a figure like 1.6 g/kg, we name where it comes from rather than asserting it.

Uncertainty gets stated

Plenty of protein questions do not have a clean answer, including the exact per-meal ceiling and how much the anabolic window matters. Where the evidence is mixed or thin, we say so instead of picking the version that makes for a tidier article.

We say when our app is the wrong tool

Protein Tracker only tracks protein. If you need calorie control, full macro splits, or micronutrient data, a different app will serve you better and our articles say that plainly. We would rather lose a download than recommend the wrong tool.

Guidance matches the calculator

The coefficients quoted in articles are the same ones behind our protein calculator. If we change how a recommendation is derived, both move together, so the site never gives two different answers to the same question.
